Join other interested "newbies" who want to learn to play American Mah Jongg.  The library has no experts on staff, but we know enough to help others get started.  If you would like to learn alongside us, join us for this initial four-week video learning series.  (Experienced players who would like to drop in unregistered to help us learn are enthusiastically welcomed!)

Mah Jongg is a 4-person game of strategy and skill that originated in China.  There are many versions of this game, with the American version enjoying popularity in the U.S. today.  Learning to play involves getting familiar with the tiles, learning the specifics of dealing & play, and especially learning to decipher and become familiar with the official card of playable hands***.

Registration for the April 9 program automatically registers you for the following 3 weeks as well.  Then, beginning in May, the club will transition to a monthly meetup on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

***Important:  In order to play American Mah Jongg, you need an Official Standard Hands and Rules card.  This card changes annually and is issued in April each year by the National Mah Jongg League.  You can purchase your card now on the the League's website and it will be mailed to you in April.
