David Blixt is a renowned author and actor who is known for his expertise in Shakespearean literature. As well as an award-winning actor and fight director, he is the author of eight critically acclaimed novels. David's passion for Shakespeare's plays is reflected in the blending of theatre and history he brings to all his works. A resident teaching artist at the Chicago High School For The Arts, he has conducted dozens of workshops and lectures on Shakespeare, helping students and literature enthusiasts alike to better understand the intricacies of these plays.

To coincide with his starring turn in the Michigan Shakespeare Festival’s 2023 performance of Macbeth, David will conduct a library presentation on the play, focusing on its use of violence and the questions of free will. With David's captivating storytelling abilities, he will provide a detailed analysis of the characters and the plot, discussing the underlying themes of violence and free will that are prevalent throughout the play. His insights into the characters' motivations and the societal pressures that they face made the play come alive for the audience, helping them to understand the complexities of the play in a deeper way.
